Like any other social institution, the Church has not escaped the impact of industrialization and modernization. The west has seen the rise of secularism, anticlericalism, materialism and the decline of supernaturalism. In the Philippines, in handling [problems and in the absence of definite solutions to these problems, some people turn to religion for social and psychological support.
